The BMW Headquarters, colloquially known as the BMW Tower or BMW Four-Cylinder for its distinctive cylindrical form, stands in Munich's Am Riesenfeld district as the global corporate headquarters of the German automaker since 1973. Designed by Karl Schwanzer and completed in 1972, this 101-meter-high modernist structure is built of concrete and aluminium, exemplifying the confident geometric language of postwar corporate architecture. The building was recognized as a protected historic monument in Bavaria in 1999 and remains one of Munich's most celebrated examples of modern design. Comprehensive renovations undertaken between 2004 and 2006 preserved its architectural integrity while updating its facilities.
