Botleys Mansion, a Palladian house in Chertsey, Surrey, was built in the 1760s to designs by architect Kenton Couse and funded by Joseph Mawbey. The elegantly proportioned mansion occupies an elevated site that once held a 14th-century manor house, seized from Chertsey Abbey during Henry VIII's Dissolution of the Monasteries. Originally surrounded by parkland, the building served successively as a colony hospital and private care home before being adapted for use as a wedding venue. Now Grade II* listed, Botleys Mansion stands amid a landscape transformed by institutional development, with nearby hospitals and council land occupying what were once the abbey's extensive holdings.
