Burlington House stands on Piccadilly in Mayfair, London, a Grade II* listed mansion that began as an English Baroque residence before being redesigned in the Neo-Palladian style associated with the Earls of Burlington. After the British government acquired the property in the mid-19th century, the building underwent significant expansion to accommodate its new institutional role. Today it serves as home to the Royal Academy and five learned societies, making it a center for artistic and scholarly life in Westminster.
