Carrington Hospital, a neoclassical former lunatic asylum and psychiatric hospital in Point Chevalier, Auckland, was built in 1865 and served as the city's principal asylum for over a century. The Heritage New Zealand Category I listed building reflects the architectural conventions of its era, though the institution itself eventually closed, leading to the sale of its land and buildings to Carrington Technical Institute (later Unitec). Between 2018 and 2021, much of the former site was sold to the Crown for residential development.
