Casa Batlló, a multifamily residence in Barcelona's Eixample district, stands as one of Antoni Gaudí's masterpieces. Originally built in 1877, the house was radically redesigned by Gaudí in 1904, with assistance from his colleagues Domènec Sugrañes i Gras, Josep Canaleta, and Joan Rubió. Located on Passeig de Gràcia as part of the celebrated Illa de la Discòrdia—a block of four architecturally distinctive Modernista buildings—Casa Batlló eschews conventional geometry in favor of organic form. Its façade features irregular oval windows, sinuous sculptural stonework, and colorful trencadís (broken ceramic tilework), with few straight lines visible throughout. Built in Montjuïc stone, ceramic glaze, and brick, the building has been refurbished multiple times since its redesign. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005, Casa Batlló remains a defining emblem of Catalan Modernism.
