Located on the south shore of Cayuga Lake in Stewart Park, Ithaca, the Cascadilla School Boathouse is a shingle style structure built between 1894 and 1896 to serve the Cascadilla School's rowing program during the height of late nineteenth-century crew enthusiasm. The boathouse has remained in continuous use for its original purpose—boat storage, training, and competition—first by the school and later by the Cascadilla Boat Club, founded in 1977. Today the not-for-profit club operates the facility under lease from the City of Ithaca, offering competitive scholastic rowing and learn-to-row classes to the broader community. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.
