The Château d'Angers is a medieval fortress in the Loire Valley city of Angers, founded in the 9th century by the Counts of Anjou and expanded to its present form during the 13th century. Positioned on a bluff overlooking the River Maine, the castle was designated a historical monument in 1875 and now welcomes visitors as a public museum. It is renowned as the home of the Apocalypse Tapestry, a masterwork of medieval textile art.
