The Château de Richelieu was an enormous 17th-century château built by Cardinal Richelieu in Touraine, designed by architect Jacques Lemercier in the Louis XIII style and constructed between 1631 and 1642 on the site of the former du Plessis family mansion. Located south of the current city of Richelieu in Indre-et-Loire, the château was at the heart of a sprawling park surrounded by agricultural land. Demolished for building materials in 1805, almost nothing of the structure remains today, though the site was designated a historical monument in 1930.
