The Chris Hellman Center for Dance, located in San Francisco's Civic Center neighborhood, is a Postmodern-styled building completed in 1984 and designed by architect Beverly Willis. Built as the studio and headquarters for the San Francisco Ballet, it was the first building in the United States constructed exclusively for a major ballet company, featuring rehearsal spaces tailored to the company's specifications. The building houses the San Francisco Ballet School, administrative offices, and additional rehearsal facilities, while the company continues to perform at the adjacent War Memorial Opera House, where it has been based since its founding. The structure was renamed in 2010 to honor Patricia "Chris" Hellman, a longtime board member and former dancer.
