Christ Episcopal Church, located at 425 North Cherry Street in Monticello, Florida, is a Carpenter Gothic structure built in 1885 by Swedish architect G.M. Torgerson. Designed to replace an earlier church building destroyed by fire three years prior, the building exemplifies the Carpenter Gothic style with distinctive stick-style detailing, a steeply pitched roof, lancet windows, and a side belfry and entrance. The Episcopal parish itself traces its origins to 1840, when local congregants organized formal worship after years of conducting lay services in their homes. The church remains an active parish within the Episcopal Diocese of Florida and serves as a contributing property to the Monticello Historic District, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
