The Church of the Assumption in Uzundzhovo, Bulgaria, is an Eastern Orthodox church built on foundations of Ottoman heritage. Originally constructed as a mosque during the Ottoman occupation, the structure exemplifies the architectural vocabulary of Mimar Sinan, the period's master builder. Following the end of Ottoman rule, the building was reconstructed in 1906 to serve as a Bulgarian Orthodox church dedicated to the Dormition of the Holy Mother of God, transforming its religious function while preserving its Ottoman architectural character. The building thus embodies the complex religious and cultural shifts that marked Bulgaria's transition from Ottoman to modern times.
