The Clinton County Courthouse stands at 50 North Jackson Street in Frankfort, Indiana, a three-story Second Empire limestone structure completed between 1882 and 1884. Designed by George W. Bunting, who specialized in courthouse commissions throughout Indiana, the building showcases the grandeur typical of Gilded Age civic architecture, with decorative statuary and a prominent 165-foot domed central tower crowned by a clock. The construction cost of $170,450 reflected its ambitions as a regional seat of justice. A near-identical brick version was erected simultaneously in Anderson, though that structure no longer stands. The courthouse remains in active use today and was recognized on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 as part of Frankfort's Commercial Historic District.
