The Vígszínház, or Comedy Theatre of Budapest, is an Art Nouveau theatre built in 1896 in Budapest's District XIII by the architectural firm Fellner & Helmer. Emerging in the late nineteenth century as a progressive alternative to the conservative National Theatre, it established itself as a pioneering force in Hungarian drama and ranks among the city's oldest continuously operating theatres.
