The Dane County Courthouse, completed in 2005 in Madison, Wisconsin, is an eight-story early-modernist structure that represents a significant investment of time and resources: the building took sixteen years of planning and construction and cost $44 million to complete. It holds the distinction of being the first "green" building constructed by Dane County, reflecting contemporary environmental design principles. The courthouse has since embraced digital innovation, with its probate division transitioning to paperless operations in 2013, followed by the entire courthouse in 2016.
