Completed in 1939 in Weiser, Idaho, the Washington County Courthouse exemplifies the Streamline Moderne aesthetic through its Art Deco styling. Designed by architects Tourtellotte & Hummel and constructed under Works Progress Administration labor, it replaced a predecessor destroyed by fire in February 1938. Built by contractor J.F. Ulmer with county-supplied materials, the courthouse was substantially finished by fall 1939 and formally dedicated on December 1 that year, though its distinctive sprayed veneer finish was not applied until spring 1940. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 28, 1987.
