Located in Mohammadia's Dar El Beïda District in Algiers, the Djamaa el Djazaïr (Great Mosque of Algiers) opened in April 2019 as the world's third-largest mosque. Designed by China State Construction Engineering Group Co. Ltd., it features the world's tallest minaret at 265 metres, towering over a sprawling prayer hall of 22,000 square metres that accommodates 120,000 worshippers. The interior is organized around a central nave bordered by colonnades, with a 50-metre-diameter dome rising to 70 metres, and a white marble mihrab oriented to the east. The mosque's scale places it after only Mecca's Great Mosque and Medina's Al-Masjid an-Nabawi.
