Doha Tower, a 238-metre, 46-storey office building completed in 2012 in West Bay, Doha, Qatar, was designed by French architect Jean Nouvel and represents a striking synthesis of modern engineering and Islamic architectural tradition. The building's distinctive cylindrical façade, paired with an innovative structural system of internal reinforced concrete diagrid columns arranged in a cross pattern, eliminates the need for a central core and maximizes usable floor space. Drawing on Islamic mashrabiya screens, the design incorporates shading elements that both reference local cultural heritage and respond pragmatically to the region's intense heat and wind-blown sand. Originally conceived as the Doha High Rise Office Building in 2004, it was branded Burj Doha upon completion and later officially renamed Doha Tower. The $125-million project earned the CTBUH Skyscraper Award for Best Tall Building Worldwide in October 2012.
