The Duval County Courthouse is a postmodern courthouse in downtown Jacksonville, Florida, designed by KBJ Architects and completed in 2012. Built as part of the Better Jacksonville Plan, the facility houses courtrooms and judges for both Duval County and the Fourth Judicial Circuit Courts. Its construction, which began in 2009, followed decades of planning delayed by budget constraints and cost inflation. The building replaced an earlier courthouse that had operated since 1902, continuing a judicial tradition in the county that dates to its creation in 1822 and its first courthouse constructed during the 1840s.
