Built in 1902 at 500 East DePue Avenue in Olivia, Minnesota, the Renville County Courthouse and Jail stands as the seat of Renville County. Designed by Minneapolis architect Fremont D. Orff at a cost of $88,000, this Victorian structure synthesizes multiple architectural traditions. Its corner pavilions and central tower feature segmented blue-green copper domes evoking Second Empire style, while the center pavilion's porch—detailed with balusters, fluted columns, and an oculus-pierced pediment—reflects Georgian influence. The building's construction followed Olivia's hard-won victory in 1900 to secure the county seat permanently, culminating decades of competition with Beaver Falls. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
