The Winona County Courthouse, built in 1889 in Winona, Minnesota, is a striking example of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture that served as the seat of county government. Nominated for the National Register of Historic Places in 1970—notably the first Minnesota courthouse to receive this honor—the building represents an artistic manifestation of Winona's prosperous riverboat and logging era. It was recognized for its local significance in architecture, art, and political governance.
