Built in 1935 in Butler, Georgia, the Taylor County Courthouse is a Neoclassical Revival structure designed by Columbus architect Frederick Roy Duncan. Constructed during the Great Depression, it replaced an earlier 1852 courthouse that had stood on the same site for nearly eighty years. The building displays pronounced classical elements more elaborate than typical of Depression-era courthouses, including a cupola, pedimented portico and entrances, quoins, and keystones. The courthouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.
