The Tyler County Courthouse and Jail in Middlebourne, West Virginia, was erected in 1854 as a replacement for an earlier 1829 courthouse. The building underwent extensive renovation and modification in 1922 under the direction of architects E.C.S. Holmboe and Mr. Pogue of Clarksburg, who redesigned it in the Classical Revival style, incorporating Beaux-Arts and Neoclassical elements while preserving the original structure. The 1922 redesign resulted in a refined Classical composition that transformed the courthouse's appearance while maintaining its foundational framework. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
