Built in 1934 in Linton, North Dakota, the Emmons County Courthouse stands as a landmark of Depression-era public works. It was the first Works Progress Administration project granted in the state, initiating a program that would ultimately produce seven courthouses across North Dakota. The building exemplifies the Art Deco and Moderne styles that characterized WPA architecture of the period, representing one of only eight Art Deco courthouses constructed in the state. Recognized for its historical significance, it was entered into the National Register of Historic Places on November 14, 1985.
