First Lutheran Church of Venice is a Mission Revival–style church located on the westside of Los Angeles that has served the Venice, Mar Vista, and Marina del Rey communities since its founding in 1944 by the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod. The congregation, which operated an affiliated elementary school from 1948 to 2018, became known for its embrace of the local artistic community, hosting the Masters in the Chapel music series since 2001 featuring performances by ensembles including the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Los Angeles Master Chorale. Following a devastating 1998 electrical fire that destroyed the original sanctuary, the church underwent restoration and installed a new pipe organ in 2004 designed by the same builder of instruments at Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. The building is also distinguished by an exterior mural titled *Jesus Roller Skating with Friends in Venice Beach*, created in 1997 by Benedictine monk Ft. Maur Van Doorslaer.
