The First Unitarian Church of San Jose, located at 160 North Third Street in downtown San Jose across from St. James Park, exemplifies Richardsonian Romanesque architecture through the work of George W. Page, who also designed the Hayes Mansion. Completed following the laying of its cornerstone on September 23, 1891—eight years after the congregation purchased the site—the church draws inspiration from Transylvanian Unitarian ecclesiastical traditions. Its distinctive facade features a large triple-arched stained glass window, while the composition is enriched by multiple domes and cupolas alongside both round and square towers. The building holds dual designations as a National Register of Historic Places listing and a California Historical Landmark.
