The Fred Gottschalk Grocery Store, located at 301 West Edwards Street in Springfield, Illinois, is a historic commercial building constructed in 1898 in the Chicago School tradition. Erected by grocer Fred Gottschalk, who had operated a store at the site since 1887, the brick structure features a cast iron storefront and corbelled cornice characteristic of Commercial style design. The establishment served Springfield's prominent political families and was notably progressive for its era, offering customers the convenience of telephone shopping. Run by Gottschalk and his son Arthur until 1971, the building stands today as one of the few surviving neighborhood groceries in Springfield and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
