Built in 1921 in Chicago, Goldblatt's Building exemplifies the Chicago School architectural style under the design of Alfred Samuel Alschuler. Originally constructed as a department store for what would become a prominent regional discount chain, the structure reflects early twentieth-century commercial design principles. Founded in 1914, Goldblatt's eventually expanded to more than twenty locations across Chicago, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin before the chain's gradual decline and final closure in 2000. The building is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
