Gants Hill is a London Underground station in the residential Gants Hill district of Ilford, east London, designed by architect Charles Holden in the modernist Art Deco style. Opened on 14 December 1947 as part of the Central line's extension to create the Hainault loop, it lies between Redbridge and Newbury Park stations and holds the distinction of being the easternmost below-ground station on the entire London Underground network. The station's ticket hall sits beneath Gants Hill roundabout, accessed through pedestrian subways, while its platform level features Holden's signature barrel-vaulted halls—a distinctive architectural hallmark that makes the station visually memorable and contributes to its status as the busiest station on the Hainault loop.
