Built in 1561 by the Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan, the Gazi Hajdar Kadi Mosque stands in Bitola, North Macedonia. During the twentieth century, the religious building was repurposed as a warehouse by local Macedonian authorities, stripping it of its original function. Following a comprehensive restoration undertaken with support from the Turkish Republic, the mosque underwent several years of reconstruction and was fully reopened to the public in November 2016, restoring it to active use as a place of worship.
