The Glasgow School of Art is a higher education institution in Glasgow, Scotland, offering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in architecture, fine art, and design, all awarded by the University of Glasgow. The school occupies multiple buildings around Renfrew Street on Garnethill. Its most celebrated structure, the Mackintosh Building, was designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh between 1896 and 1909 and became an iconic landmark and pioneer of the British Art Nouveau style. Severely damaged by fire in May 2014 and destroyed by a second fire in June 2018, leaving only a burnt-out shell, the building is planned for reconstruction in keeping with Mackintosh's original design.
