Glebe Center, a historic shopping center in Arlington County's Ballston neighborhood, was designed by Washington, D.C. architect Mihran Mesrobian and completed in 1940. The one-story, L-shaped building employs American-bond brick veneer with cast-stone accents and exemplifies Moderne and Art Deco design through its large storefront windows and decorative elements. A striking central square tower topped by a glass-block clerestory and pyramidal metal roof anchors the composition. Built to serve both the surrounding Buckingham and Ashton Heights residential communities and motorists along Arlington Boulevard and North Glebe Road, the structure was recognized as a Virginia Historic Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.
