Calvert Manor, a three-story garden apartment building in Arlington, Virginia, exemplifies Moderne design through its bold material contrasts and geometric detailing. Designed and built in 1948 by Washington, D.C. architect Mihran Mesrobian, who also served as its owner, the structure employs concrete block with red brick facing, enlivened by light-colored cast stone and cement brick accents arranged in deliberate patterns. Vertical bands of glass block emphasize its streamlined aesthetic. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997, it stands as a significant example of mid-twentieth-century multifamily residential architecture in the region.
