The Golden Gate, also known as the Gate of Mercy, is an Islamic-style structure standing 11.5 meters high on the eastern wall of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. Built as one of only two gates providing access to the Old City from the east, it remains the sole eastern entrance to the Temple Mount itself. Sealed since 1541, the gate's interior remains accessible from within the Temple Mount. The structure holds profound religious significance across three faiths: Jewish tradition holds that the Messiah will enter Jerusalem through this gate from the Mount of Olives, while Christians and Muslims generally believe it was the gate through which Jesus entered the city.
