The Governor's Palace in Williamsburg, Virginia is a reconstructed Georgian residence that once served as the official home of Virginia's British governors, as well as two early American governors, Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson. The original structure burned in 1781, a year after the capital's relocation to Richmond. The building was reconstructed in the 1930s on its original foundation and stands today as one of the two largest structures at Colonial Williamsburg, alongside the colonial capitol, functioning as a historic house museum that interprets eighteenth-century colonial life.
