The Grainfield Opera House, built in 1887 at the corner of Main and 3rd Streets in Grainfield, Kansas, stands as a Queen Anne-style structure of cast iron and brick. Erected by the Grainfield Town Company following the firm's acquisition of the town area from the railroad, the building is distinguished by its notable Mesker Brothers cast-iron storefront. Beyond its role as a civic auditorium and community center, the opera house accommodated various commercial tenants over the years, including a harness store, grocery, and auto repair shop. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 and remains a Kansas heritage site.
