The Hacienda del Pozo de Verona was a mansion designed by architect A. C. Schweinfurth for philanthropist Phoebe Hearst on the former Rancho Valle de San José in the Amador Valley near Pleasanton, California. Built between 1894 and 1898, the structure combined Mission, Pueblo, and Moorish architectural styles, with substantial later additions by architect Julia Morgan. The estate was significant enough to warrant its own railroad station—Hacienda (or Hearst)—on the Western Pacific Railroad at Verona. In 1924, the property was acquired by businessmen and became the original home of the Castlewood Country Club, spurring residential development that eventually led to the formation of Castlewood, California. The mansion was destroyed by fire in 1969.
