Incorporated in 1887, the Harvard Club of New York City is a private social club in Midtown Manhattan restricted to Harvard University alumni, faculty, and board members. The original wing, built in 1894 on adjoining lots at 27 and 35 West 44th Street, was designed by Charles Follen McKim of the architectural firm McKim, Mead & White in red brick neo-Georgian style. The club provides members with overnight guest rooms, a fitness center, dining and banquet facilities, and a library. Designated a New York City Landmark and listed on both the New York State Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places, the building exemplifies Colonial Revival architecture.
