The Haskell Free Library and Opera House is a Romanesque Revival structure completed in 1904 that uniquely straddles the Canada–United States border between Stanstead, Quebec, and Derby Line, Vermont. Deliberately built across the international boundary, the opera house opened on June 7, 1904, and operates with dual Canadian and American addresses and postal codes. The Victorian building has been recognized as a heritage site by both countries, earning designation on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and as a classified heritage immovable and national historic site of Canada in the 1970s and 1980s.
