Located in Kaliningrad, Russia (formerly Königsberg, Germany), the Haus der Technik is an expressionist brick exhibition hall designed by architect Hanns Hopp and constructed from 1924 to 1925. Built along Waldburgstraße to display machinery for the Ostmesse trade fair, its massive interior exceeded even the celebrated Muscovite Hall of Königsberg Castle in size. During the Nazi era from 1933 to 1945, it was renamed the Schlageterhaus in honor of Albert Leo Schlageter. The building's roof was destroyed during World War II. Following acquisition by an investment company in 2004, it underwent restoration through 2006 and was converted into a shopping center called Epicenter, now serving as a commercial hub while retaining its status as a regional cultural heritage site in Russia.
