Completed in 2012, the Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center is a 57,500 square-meter performing arts complex in Baku, Azerbaijan, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. The building is distinguished by its futurist aesthetic, characterized by flowing, curved forms that deliberately avoid sharp angles, rendered in concrete and glass. Named after Heydar Aliyev, the former first secretary of Soviet Azerbaijan (1969–1982) and president of the Azerbaijan Republic (1993–2003), the center exemplifies Hadid's signature approach to contemporary architecture through its organic, sculptural design.
