Höfði is a Jugendstil house built in 1909 in Reykjavík's Laugardalur district. It gained international prominence as the venue for the 1986 Reykjavík Summit, where U.S. President Ronald Reagan and Soviet General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev met to discuss nuclear arms reduction. Though the talks did not produce a final agreement, the meeting proved a significant milestone in reducing Cold War tensions. The flags of both nations hang crossed within the building to commemorate this historic encounter.
