Hogevank Monastery, situated near Sarnaghbyur in Armenia's Shirak Province, is a medieval Armenian complex founded around 1200 and designated a cultural heritage monument. The monastery's principal structure, Saint Karapet Church, was completed in 1205, though an inscription indicates it was originally dedicated to Saint Stepanos. Built from red polished tuff with a distinctive cylindrical drum dome, the church features two entrances—western and northern—and a semicircular main altar flanked by arched vestries. A 1939 earthquake destroyed the dome, which was later restored in 1980 using brown and black tuffs alongside the original material. The interior preserves four-sided carved commemorative markers from the 4th and 5th centuries and fragments of 13th-century khachkars (Armenian cross-stones), though their inscriptions have become illegible with time. Ruins of earlier structures—a 5th-century single-nave chapel and a 7th-century sanctuary with four apses—survive to the north of the main church.
