Holy Blossom Temple, located at 1950 Bathurst Street in Toronto, is the oldest Jewish congregation in the city, founded in 1856. Designed by architects Chapman and Oxley, the synagogue exemplifies Byzantine Revival architecture. As a Reform synagogue and charitable organization, it has grown to encompass more than 7,000 members. The temple has been led by notable rabbis including W. Gunther Plaut, who served as Senior Rabbi for many years. The congregation continues to be supported by prominent donors, including Heather Reisman and Gerald Schwartz, who established the Gerald Schwartz/Heather Reisman Centre for Jewish Learning at the temple.
