Hotel Torni (literally "Hotel Tower"), designed by Valter Jung, rose in Helsinki's Kamppi district in 1931 as a striking modernist tower block standing 69.5 meters tall. Upon completion, it became Finland's tallest building—a distinction it held until the Neste headquarters opened in neighboring Espoo in 1976—and remained Helsinki's highest structure until being surpassed by Itäkeskuksen maamerkki in 1987. Now part of the Sokos Hotels chain as Solo Sokos Hotel Torni, the building anchors the Helsinki Design District and underwent complete interior renovation in 2005, preserving its status as an architectural landmark nearly a century after its construction.
