Designed by architect Arnold W. Brunner in the Beaux-Arts style, the Howard M. Metzenbaum United States Courthouse stands on Superior Avenue in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, with its west facade overlooking Public Square and its north side facing The Mall. Originally constructed as the Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse, the structure served dual purposes as a post office before being renamed in honor of U.S. Senator Howard Metzenbaum. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the building represents an important example of early twentieth-century civic architecture in Ohio.
