Located in downtown Tulsa at 224 South Boulder Avenue, the United States Post Office and Courthouse is a Neoclassical federal building completed in 1917 under the supervision of architect James A. Wetmore, who also oversaw a substantial extension in 1933. Built in the Classical Revival style, the structure has been celebrated as "the postal beauty of the southwest… a marble, bronze and granite memorial to its builders." Originally housing the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, the building served as a courthouse for the Northern District following a 1925 reconfiguration of the districts, while continuing its function as a post office and government office building. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it remains a distinguished example of early twentieth-century federal architecture in Oklahoma.
