The Jameh Mosque of Saveh in Markazi Province, Iran, is a Friday mosque that embodies nearly a millennium of Islamic architectural evolution. Built primarily of brick, adobe, mud, and plaster, the structure stands 17 meters high and preserves distinct construction phases spanning the early Islamic period through the Seljuk, Ilkhanid, and Safavid eras. Archaeological investigation has revealed earlier hypostyle mosques beneath the current structure, documenting the site's continuous religious significance across centuries. Designated as Iranian National Heritage in 1932, the mosque represents a valuable palimpsest of architectural styles and construction techniques from multiple periods of Islamic history.
