The James A. Garfield Memorial is a 55-meter-tall mausoleum in Lake View Cemetery, Cleveland, Ohio, housing the remains of the assassinated president and his family. Designed by George Keller and sculptor Caspar Buberl, the monument was constructed beginning in October 1885 and dedicated on May 30, 1890. Its architecture synthesizes Byzantine, Romanesque, and Gothic Revival elements, reflecting the eclectic tastes of the Gilded Age. The crypt level contains Garfield, former First Lady Lucretia Garfield, and two other family members. The memorial was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
