The Kamiishizu Misanzai Kofun is a zenpō-kōen-fun (keyhole-shaped mound) located in Nishi-ku, Japan, dating to around 500 CE. As an imperial mausoleum, it exemplifies the characteristic form of Japanese kofun—massive earthen burial mounds that served the elite during the Kofun period. The zenpō-kōen-fun type features a distinctive keyhole silhouette, with a circular rear mound joined to a trapezoidal frontal section. The monument is recognized as part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, underscoring its archaeological and historical significance as evidence of Japan's early imperial burial practices and monumental architecture.
