Situated in St Margarets in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, the Kilmorey Mausoleum is a Grade II* listed Egyptian Revival monument designed by Henry Edward Kendall Jr. and built in the 1850s at a cost of £30,000. Constructed of pink and grey granite with a bronze door, it was commissioned by the 2nd Earl of Kilmorey to house the remains of his mistress, Priscilla Anne Hoste, who died of heart disease in 1854. The mausoleum contains both Priscilla and the Earl himself, who was buried beside her in 1880 beneath a white marble bas-relief carved in Rome by sculptor Lawrence Macdonald, depicting the dying Priscilla attended by the Earl and their ten-year-old son Charles. The building has been praised as a fine example of Egyptian-style funerary architecture, notable for its unusually accomplished interior.
